CLASS DESCRIPTIONS-

 

If you're not sure which class you fit into please ask, we have a class for everyone!

Level 1:

For students with no previous belly dance experience.  Classes focus on posture and basic movements.  You can book into this class at any time during the term.

Level 2:

For students with a minimum of 6 months belly dance experience.  Introduces more complex steps, levels, transitions, props, different dance styles and choreography. 

Level 3:

For students with at least 2 years belly dance experience.  Classes will have an increased focus on stretching/warm up for improved flexibility and scope of movement, complex movements & combinations, improvisation & development of individual style, group & solo work.

ELYSIUM Priestess :   

Elysium is the first gothic fusion dance in tribal-style format.  Making it easy to learn, stunning performances with or without choreography, and based on Egyptian belly dance with fusions and inspirations from Indian dance, Flamenco and ATS with a twist of spooky.  Elysium Priestess is open to students who have a solid Level 1 foundation and covers the gothic belly dance Elysium format basics. It is taught with cues & transitions, with emphasis on group dancing & dance technique.  This class is a prerequisite for Elysium Goddesss (intermediate Elysium) late 2010/early 2011. 

American Tribal Style (ATS) Beginners:

This class is open to all students.  During these classes you will learn American Tribal Style slow and fast movements and combinations.  This class is a prerequisite for the ATS intermediate class in mid 2010.  For more information on ATS please visit www.redearthghawazee.comNo belly dance experience is required. 

ATS Beyond Beginners: 

Students must have a good knowledge of basic ATS movements or a minimum of 9 months ATS or tribal belly dance experience.

Middle Eastern Drumming (MED) Beginners:

This class is open to anyone wishing to develop a musical appreciation of Middle Eastern rhythms using the drum known in Egypt as 'Tabla' or in Turkey and the Balkans 'Darabuka'.  Students will learn drumming language using the Hossam Ramzy technique and will learn the basic rhythms including Ayoub, Chobi, Felahi, Maksoum, Saidi, to name a few.  You don't have to be a dancer, in the belly dance scene, or have any musical experience to join this class.
