Goddess Bellydance is very proud to announce that Cindy Hyde from Eternal Beat Bellydance in Gippsland will be joining us and taking over the Berwick Classes. Cin comes to us with an impressive and extensive background in Traditional Egyptian, Baladi, Cabaret, as well as Dark, Goth and Tribal Fusion. Cindy's teaching style encompasses more than just the dance itself. With her holistic approach and fitness background, students will develop a deep respect for both their own bodies and the beauty that is belly dance. Welcome Cindy!!!!

A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who came out and supported our mid year student concert on Friday. Not only was the evening full of beautiful dancing and amazing costuming, but we raised a whopping $1680 for the Hamlin Fistula Foundation, which is way over what we were aiming for!!!! WELL DONE :). A special thank you to all the volunteers who's help was invaluable in the success of the evening.

TranscenDance, a concert event featuring Sashi of Ascend Tribal Dance, will be held at the Thornbury Theatre on Friday July 9th. Early Bird tickets are $30 and entitle ticket holders to two free afternoon workshops. The Elysium Dark Fusion Format with Mai'siah at 3.30pm & Fat Chance Belly Dance Tribal Format with Red Earth Ghawazee at 4.30pm. Tickets purchased after June 30th are $35. This event is not suitable for children under 12.

ENROLMENT DAY TERM 3

The Goddess Bellydance Studion in Croydon will be open for the Term 3 Enrolment Day on Saturday July 3rd, 10am-2pm (Cash, Cheque or Money Order). This date is also the deadline for Early Bird enrolments, so if you have left it till the last minute and would like to take advantage of the discount make sure you pop in. Goddess Bellydance now also stock some basic dance accessories including hip scarves, zills and swords, which will be available for purchase on the day.

MIDDLE EASTERN DRUMMING WITH YEOW

We are very excited to announce that Yeow from our favourite Middle Eastern Percussion group Bellyslap, will be teaching Middle Eastern Drumming on Saturday afternoons from our Croydon studio, starting in Term 2. Beginners classes are from 2-3pm for students with little or no experience. Everyone is welcome and drums will be available for hire ($5 per class) or purchase. Please either contact us or download the enrolment form for more information. An intermediate class will follow from 3-4pm. If you are an intermediate student please contact Yeow directly as the intermediate class runs seperately from the beginners and is not included in the Goddess Bellydance timetable or enrolment form. Congratulations to Amanda for organising such a successful event. The evening featured some wonderful performances from the Melbourne belly dance community, lots of laughs, and over $2000 was raised for Oxfam Trailwalker Team 114. Well done Amanda :).

Goddess Bellydance and Raqs Gothique Star Ma'isah has just come back from the USA after appearing as International Guest Star at Gothla 2010. News from Gothla is that she ran an awesome workshop, rocked the house with her performance, apparently had a huge goth audience shouting 'Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oy, Oy, Oy'....they didn't quite get it, and has of course been asked to come back next year. Well done Ma'isah. Red Earth Ghawazee (with very 'proud to be' new troupe member Dominika) joined with Bellyslap at the Moomba Parade on Monday morning. Everyone had lots of fun and thank you to everyone who braved the massive crowds and came out to support us. The performance was obviously irresistible as we found our way to the evening news :)!!!

Thanks again to everyone who participated in our end of year hafla. The energy was amazing, as were the perfomances.
